A Touch of Mink
My design focus is working with opposites that attract, to obtain a balance between people and the objects that surround them for a personal home expression that is uniquely "U", only better. Opposites, along with integration and balance, are the key to home harmony. These opposites create an interest for the eye, yet provide a certain tension that refreshes your senses daily. The end result is what I like to call "funky shui." For instance, I might use art deco lighting in a bathroom with a victorian claw foot tub, or in the dining room have a wood farm table and use formal chairs with it. My idea of "funky shui" can be further described as follows:
- Subtle's counterpoint is daring
- Vintage heart's counterpoint is modern soul
- Eclectic's counterpoint is streamlined
- Angular's counterpoint is circular
- Minimalist's counterpoint is renaissance
- Dark's counterpoint is light
- Contemporary's counterpoint is antique
- Structure's counterpoint is free-form
I believe that a home's harmony is determined by the people and the objects that surround them. All people are creative, but within different arenas. Some are creative in financial management, some in home management, some in romantic expressions of love, some in fantasy football leagues, some in military war games, others in writing. I am creative in melding a person's own creativity into the décor of their home. A person's interests and talents should be a balanced expression in their home's personality. My designs should inspire and foster my client's comfort in their own environment to enhance their creativity in whatever arena that may be. Each client's personality is translated into color, texture, style, and layers that represent "U", only better.
